I'm Valerio but call me boz

I like wandering in it.wiki looking for some technical contributions. My bots also like running in Commons and Wikidata.
I hope I can help you! Feel free to leave a message in the talk page.
Declaration of interests
Let's spend some words about my non-neutral point of view and my conflict of interests.
- I have a strong positive opinion about software freedom so I may need extra help to reach a neutral point of view. Thanks for your help! lol
- I'm the president of Italian Linux Society (2024-2027). This is a volunteer position.
- I was board director in Italian Linux Society 2021-2023. That is another volunteer position.
- I'm in the Tech Commission of Wikimedia Italy since 2022. This is a volunteer position. My partner abstained in this decision.
- I'm a member of:
- InFormAzionI
- Wikimedia Italia
- I joined the above two associations on the same day. I don't remember which day.
- As volunteer I occasionally trained some paid interns to help in localization and internationalization on Wikimedia projects. Read more.
- I've hosted websites in my infrastructure as hobby, for friends. Warning: a wild CC BY-SA appears and their images lands in Wikimedia Commons (when in scope).
- I am hopelessly in love with someone registered in this wiki. We should not work together or we will smack smack smack instead of be serious and neutral.[1]
- I'm hired full-time in a software house located in Torino as full stack web developer and GNU/Linux sysadmin. Core business: logistical support for the food industry. Occasionally, man for rent services.[2]
Note: this IT company that can rent my body to other customers and when it happens I literally have no any financial benefit or any other benefit for whatever customer or organization I serve. I have no interest in seeing my boss earn more. The only benefit of these collaborations is terms of personal mental health and gratification for my public contributions, if these projects are interesting.- With these premises, here some relevant organizations I'm serving / I served via that company, and their related projects:
- WMCH Infrastructure – keeping some internal wikis up and running
- WMCH Cronos – developing another MediaWiki-friendly calendar
- Minipedia – developing a reduced Wikipedia in Italian language focused on accessibility
- Minipedia – developing a reduced Wikipedia in Italian language focused on accessibility
- Wikipedia 20th Birthday Global Celebration - live translation in Italian with Free software
- import of public domain data in Wikidata from their database (coordinates, label, description, street name, AtlasFor ID (P7004))
- With these premises, here some relevant organizations I'm serving / I served via that company, and their related projects:
- Cloud68:
- From the perspective of Wikimedia Italia:
- No conflicts of interests. Cloud68 is a software company that covers some Wikimedia Italia software needs since years, for example to serve a Nextcloud and a Bitwarden (https://wiki.wikimedia.it/wiki/Categoria:Fornitore_c68).
- I was not involved in this decision for Wikimedia Italia and I was also not in the Tech commission of Wikimedia Italy at that time.
- From the perspective of Wikimedia Foundation:
- No conflicts of interests. Since 2021 I've shared many privacy concerns regarding the proprietary software stack in use by Wikimania 2021 (wikimania:2021:Present and future), in 2022 I asked help from User:ESolares (WMF) to at least launch the possibility to assist the organizing team with some Open Source Tech Support, external from WMF. I tried to apply as volunteer to assist in software evaluation but I was left out. So, I tried to at least involve some external companies, including Cloud68, hoping that at least one external help would be accepted by the organizing team to bring Free Software to the conference (since I have no time to do stuff like this in my free time). Also the Cloud68 proposal was discarded, unknown evaluation comments. It was my first time I was writing with Redon Skikuli (Cloud68). The result is that Wikimania 2022 online was realized again with proprietary software (wikimania:2022:Present and future). That was probably the very first time I got to know Redon Skikuli (Cloud68) in private emails, mainly by apologizing for wasting his time.
- From the perspective of Wikimedia Switzerland:
- I have no conflicts of interests.
- In 2024 I've was in charge to write the Wikimedia CH/Information Technology Strategy. After some months I was in charge to implement it. So, I've found some tech partners, including Cloud68, to finally have the possibility to quickly deploy a large set of Open Source software for the Swiss community - phabricator:T374238. I have no personal benefit whatsoever from involving Cloud68 in this process. I'm just happy that they make me reach the WMCH goals sooner and cheap and with a proactive assistance.
- From the perspective of Italian Linux Society:
- I have no conflicts of interests.
- In August 2024 I was contacted by Cloud68 because Boris, a worker in this company, works from my native city, Torino. Long story short, Cloud68 decided to become another sponsor of the Linux Day Torino 2024 - that is, an event where I volunteered since 2019, but not anymore since now I live in Milano. I was involved as volunteer in reviewing this economical transaction, since I'm the president of the national association that covers Torino as well. I've signed the contract of this sponsorship and nothing else. I did not received, in any way, any personal benefit from this budget (500 EURO +IVA), also because this budget was nearly immediately spent for communication materials.
- From the perspective of Wikimedia Italia:
- Phorge:
- No conflicts of interest.
- Phorge is the software that runs Wikimedia Phabricator and I'm a Phorge blessed committer volunteer reviewer and code proposer. In the company I work for, in Torino, I'm sometime authorized to produce proposals upstream in Phorge, in working hours. When it happens, I have not any personal benefit, since I have a fixed salary.
If there are other interesting things you want to ask, just contact me. I will add answers here.

Notes
- ↑ To verify my COI details follow these DYI steps:
- take your unix-like device (it seems it works on GNU+Linux and macOS)
- open your terminal emulator
- paste this command and press enter (it will not turn your device into a toaster, promise)
- follow instructions
- run again until satisfied
clear; echo "Hi Sherlock! Type your Username (example: Foo Bar) and press ENTER" && read asd && [ "$(echo -n "$asd" | sha256sum)" = "4ed123d5690ea9d1bf23ae75b9a891e5995847e7b7780ca0b20720499b661412 -" ] && echo "Gotcha! I love [[User:$asd]]. I'm not prepared to this situation. Now I have to kill you, isn't it?" || echo "Green light! I actually do not love [[User:$asd]] (whaaat?) so we can work together on your holy-nuclear super-sensitive wiki project. Whoa! Sigh of relief... but you came very close!"
Please note how my mind is totally fucked up due to a potential conflict of interest. Anyway this is not a secret. I just love transparency while this is just my own business.
- ↑ This is not my curriculum or an advertising place. I don't want to diffuse the name of my company here. Anyway it's the ER Informatica (Emilio Ravotti Informatica). You should be able to find some information about it using your favorite search engine. To avoid promoting his SEO I will not put links here.
